Jakob Elmer Family Genealogy:
This section of the website can be thought of as the electronic version of, in Jacob Elmer Clan family-speak, "The Book." The original book was compiled and updated over the 20th century, with the last updates occurring in 2002. The structure of the book consisted of a Foreward by Otto H. Elmer, a history, the core genealogical family files, which were updated regularly, and finally an ancestor report from the Glarus State Archives in Switzerland (Landesarchiv Glarus) commisioned in 1963.
Notes:
The spelling of our ancestor's names can vary, for example, while "Jakob" was the original Swiss spelling, it was changed or anglicized to "Jacob" in America.
The numerical designations of paternal family lines was a convention adopted from the Swiss Archive research. Individuals with an "Nr." (number) designation are Swiss-born ancestors. Those with a "US" assignment are the heads of the various branches here in the United States.
This is a work in progress ... please check back often.
